I Love Craigslist!

I just got a whole new wardrobe for $40. Everything you see in this picture is from an ad on Craigslist from a girl in St. George. There are 6 long sleeve shirts (one is a sweater), 7 shirts, two pants, one pair of capris, and one pair of shorts (there were three but I can't wear two of them). The pants are great - they are comfortable and are really nice. Most of the shirts I won't wear for a few more months but it is nice to have a variety. It's weird to see the size be a small and the shirt to be three feet wide. :) Not a bad deal huh? I just wish more people down here would get on the Craigslist bandwagon.

Chris and I drove down to Vegas last Sunday for the afternoon/evening to see my friend Jess who was passing through. We've been friends since I was 16. She's in the army now and was on her way to Arizona from CA for training. I hadn't seen her since my wedding so it was awesome. We went to a dog park for Murphy (it was SOOOOO awesome!) and then went to watch the Bellagio fountains. I think I could watch those all day. It's absolutely beautiful. I think I'm so fascinated by them because never in a million years could I be that creative. Murphy freaked out at the loud noises from the fountains though so Chris had to take her away. Her heart was pounding so hard. It was sensory overload, as Chris put it. It was better than being stuck at home by herself all those hours though. And the dog park was a really good experience.

Trail Close(d)

We took a hike a few weeks ago. It was only 1.23 miles TOTAL so Chris says you can't even call it a hike. But it got us out of the house for the morning. And Murphy got to go with us!
It was beautiful scenary, as is most of southern Utah.
There was a small waterfall at the end that is bigger at other times of the year. Chris climbed over to it and went into the little cave but I stayed on the lookout ledge.This was at the beginning of the trail but we, um, disregarded it. There were two other people on the trail and they said there had been some rock slides and other trail damage but it wasn't bad.

Update

We heard the heartbeat again. Everything seems to be just fine; we'll know more in the middle of December. We can have our ultrasound any day after Dec. 13 but we haven't scheduled it yet.

Besides that, school is going okay. It will be over for this semester in less than a month. I've got papers and projects coming due and when those are out of the way, things will be much calmer around here. I'm glad I went back but it's been very interesting.

Beth tagged me to post 7 random or weird facts about myself and I've been thinking about it for a few days trying to think of the best ones. I even consulted Chris about it but he (wisely) said he didn't know anything random or weird about me. :)
So here goes:

1) I decided on my degree because it had the potential of making a lot of money fast. I was working for headhunters and searching through resumes. Finance majors seemed to make good money within two or three years of graduating instead of having to wait 10-15 years. Since I thought I would have a lot more in student loans and wanted to stay home with my kids, I thought this would work out the best since I could pay them off myself faster. Fortunately, I also ended up liking the field of study.

2) An elder (boy missionary) on my mission nicknamed me Ice because I wouldn't talk to any of the elders. I tried to be friendly when I first got there and too many people thought I was just a flirt so I quit talking to all the elders. I didn't think I was that bad but he told me one time I just sat by myself reading while the other sister missionaries and elders in my district chatted. At least I wasn't being accused of flirting.

3) I have been skydiving twice and said after both times that I will never, ever do that again.

4) I'm not scared of spiders. I just don't like feeling their insides squish together when I kill them with a kleenex (and their tiny scream). I have no problem taking care of them if I can't hear or feel their murder. Usually this involves three or four paper towels.

5) Chris' family grew up with horses, snowmobiles, bikes, and cars - yet very, very few accidents (where someone was seriously injured) ever occurred. I told Chris that our kids better get his genes for that kind of stuff because if they come from my family, a child will be in the hospital every year with a major concussion or severe lacerations. We had broken bones, stitches, and concussions all over the place in my family without having horses or snowmobiles.

6) I get motion sickness in the car but only when Chris or my dad is driving - and they having VERY different driving techniques.

7) We just got a king size bed. We did this because I like to sleep curled up in a fetal position (which always leads to my knees in Chris' back pushing him off the bed) or at a right angle with my legs and torso. If I touch Chris while he's sleeping he wakes up. It is the best investment we've made since we got married and we've only had it two nights!

Good News

Yep, definitely pregnant. We had our first doctor's appointment today - right on the 10 week mark. We heard the heartbeat and we even got to use an old ultrasound machine to see the baby! He (as we're going to refer to "it" until we know better) was moving around quite a bit. We couldn't believe how much he kicked and waved his arms around. It was crazy!! He was so teeny-tiny. They printed us a picture but even if I scanned it in, all you can make out is the head and a little arm. I'm going to a midwife and she's great. Luckily, this shouldn't be a complicated pregnancy and we're keeping our fingers crossed that it stays that way. Feel free to send any and all advice my way!!
Due date is May 13, 2008 right now. Everybody pray it doesn't come much earlier so that I can finish school!
I'm feeling pretty good. I always have a little nausea but I'm getting used to it. I get the sickest at 10pm so I'm trying to go to bed early every night.
Some of you know I was hoping for twins. A two for one deal would have been great. I could have waited to have more for another 5 years. However, after seeing the baby move on the monitor, I can't imagine having two little guys running all over my house at the same time so I'm very happy with the one. :)

Claustrophobics Anonymous Anyone?

This is the slot canyon that Chris and I went in today. This is the top where you come out and the WIDE part. We needed to get out of the house so we went down to St. George to do some shopping. Since it was GORGEOUS and sunny there, we decided to skip the shopping and do something outside. We went to Pioneer Park where Chris had gone 5 years ago with friends and decided to go up this slot canyon. Well, 5 years ago Chris was 10 pounds lighter and was still freaked out by the tightness of the area. Today, it took us trying three times going up and back before we convinced ourselves to do it. It was so tight on Chris that he could puff out his stomach in some parts and lift his feet off the ground - completely suspended by his back against one wall and stomach against the other. I fit okay but rubbed front and back in a lot of parts too. I was scared to death though and only did it because Chris went first. It's not a place for anyone with any problems with claustrophobia. It's only 50 yards long but narrow the entire way. The kids in front of us were running up, one kid straight ahead. I want to see them come back in twenty years and see how they feel about it.
